    The History of Turkish Delight

The history of Turkish Delight, or "lokum", dates back to the 15th century during the Ottoman Empire. Created in the royal kitchens of Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, it was a delicacy for the elite. By the 19th century, this treat reached Western Europe, gaining popularity. Today, it's a symbol of Turkish culture enjoyed globally.

Ingredients Used in Traditional Turkish Delight

Traditional Turkish Delight uses simple yet flavorful ingredients. Cornstarch gives its distinct texture, while sugar, water, and lemon juice balance the flavors. Infused with natural flavors like rosewater and orange blossom water, and sometimes nuts like pistachios or hazelnuts, the variations are endless.

    Popular Flavours of Turkish Delight

With over 50 flavours of Turkish Delight to choose from, Marveli offers a wide array. The classic rose-flavoured Turkish Delight, or "gül lokumu", remains a top choice. For a citrusy twist, lemon or orange-flavoured delights are available. Pistachio-filled Turkish Delight offers a nutty taste combined with the soft texture.

    How Turkish Delight is Made

Making Turkish Delight requires skill. Sugar dissolves in water to create a syrup. Cornstarch is added, and the mixture is cooked until it thickens. Once thickened, it's flavored with rosewater or lemon juice, poured into a dish to cool, then cut and dusted with powdered sugar.
